Welcome to Slave to Paint!

This website is dedicated to the craft of painting miniatures, and a chance for us to show people what we do in the little spare time we have! As slaves, we mainly paint 28-30mm models, but also try our hand at larger scale miniatures. We also have a some talented sculptors in our midst.

This website has been optimised for a resolution of 1024x768

Another month passes and another model show!

This time it was the Torbay Military Model Show at Torquay Town Hall. The difference with this show is that Toosh and I 'exhibit' as part of the Jolly Bodgers model club. The Bodgers is a small club made up of 5 friends with similar interests (Tracy, Dave Knowles, Brad Wells, Dave Pratt and myself) and every year we have a stand at the show and compete with some very good military/historical painters.

We met loads of great people this year, and there seemed to be a real buzz around the stand - we were the only real fantasy/sci-fi miniature painters at the show! So now we have been invited to display our minis at Bugle Call in Bath at the end of November, and also have been pointed towards a great hobby site SFM:uk which looks like it is full with great modellers and kitbashers - so I shall be absorbing all their knowledge!! *grin*

Hello again!

We went to Salute a couple of weeks back. That has to be the best show in the UK - a large number of retailers, all quality, a fantastic atmosphere, and also the chance to meet a lot of online buddies in real life!

This year was doubly special as we went up the night before, had Sushi with my brother and then a few beers with the guys from Heresy and Hasslefree Miniatures!

I also entered the painting competition with a number of minis... the 'windy mountain top' below, a Freebooter Pirate Diorama, a GW Squig Hopper (which I have been struggling to get good photos of) and Hasslefree's Powered Armour Libby. The Squig Hopper came 2nd in the fantasy monsters category, and whats more, my Pirate diorama came FIRST in the misc fantasy/sci-ci cat!! So I now have a new pint glass to drink from!

Blogging

I am sooo bad at keeping this news thang up to date, I have decided to write a blog to document what I have been up to! That makes sense right? (nope!) You can find my blog here!

In other news....

Rather belatedly, The Diorama of Doom competition finished and Tooshy and I managed to do pretty well...! Toosh won first place in the Diorama of Doom category and I came second! Woohooo! I was pretty chuffed as the competition was really rather high, and the deliberations of the judges long and tough.

Tooshy's competition winning entry!

(WIPs found here)

Here is my entry

Wyrd Games: Femme Fatale III

Another competition Tooshy and I have entered, (this one much more recently though) was the Femmel Fatale over at Wyrd. This was single miniatures rather than Dioramas and we both chose Hasslefree Miniatures for our entries - I picked an armoured dwarf girl 'Haela' and Toosh chose the most recent version of Taxxis a near-naked necromancer.

Tooshy's 'A Bridge Too Far'

My 'windy mountain top'

Toosh's entry was in the simply scandalous category as Taxxis has her 'babylons' out and won a bronze! Haela was in the Fantasy category (as she is rather better dressed...) and I won a gold in that category...! So we did pretty well *grin*. The wyrd competitions are interesting as they are voted on by the members of the forums - so thanks for the votes guys!

What else have we been getting up to?
